Yuki Japanese Restaurant

2017-07-30T14:27:20-07:00

Yuki Japanese Restaurant website Area: West-side downtown, 23rd street Price to fill up two people: About $40 I'm not sure anything is going to top Sushi Takahashi for price, but in terms of taste, this little Japanese restaurant on 23rd between Lovejoy and Johnson definitely meets it. They served some of the best toro (fatty tuna) sashimi I've had in [...]

Quest for licorice

2016-05-15T15:49:05-07:00

I just received a stellar example of mindless customer service letters, thought I'd share. Here's the story: For the past few years I've been seeking licorice buttons. Cult of coffee

2021-06-15T14:10:10-07:00

Stopped by Peet's Coffee today for some beans. Coffee beans. Despite my location I'm not particularly into coffee. I tend to regard it as a wake-up drug and mild stimulant (and lately, a source of warmth). Basing my choice on taste is about as intelligent as choosing one brand of digitalis for its superior nose. And, as many of my coffee fanatic friends point out, it's doubtful that I could distinguish the finest Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee from mud, given my heavy reliance on cream and Splenda to make any coffee palatable.
